Well like the title says I'm asking you what you think has the quality of modern PC games decreased?
I personally think it has because today its more about the graphics and the look of the game then it is about the story immersion and the whole gameplay of the game.
I find myself getting bored with the modern games before even getting to the half of them or I come to the very end and I just don't finish them.
While the old games I remember and do play even today and I beat them at least 3 times and I enjoy them fully as I have enjoyed them the first time I played them.
The new ones just don't seem to stick with me.
I think if this continues the PC games will lose their fans, because they are becoming to much repetitive.
So what are your thoughts on this?

I totally agree with your point of view!
I play less and less pc games currently.
The problem is based on customers. We live in a world where everything happens quickly. We do all things quickly. By this, programmers are confronted to short deadline to finish their games' developements. Editors ask them to develop shorter game than before with great graphisms. I think video games become more and more orientated to technology demonstrations and less and less orientated to players' experiences.
Moreover people have more and more hobbies. That's why many people prefer to play few hours on a game and not spend several weeks to finish a game. It's just an evolving of our society in fact.

I think it is more like the people who are making them are running out of imagination and ideas.
Which is pretty sad considering they can always play some classics and see what makes them great and then follow in their footsteps.
I think the problem of today's developers is that they don't play enough the games they make or other games for that matter.
It like reading a book the more books you read the more ideas you get about your own book.
That's because you are inspired while reading them.
I'm not saying cop the whole book but see what works for you and change it to your needs.
The same thing should be with games also.
Great games should inspire other developers to make better games and also give them more ideas for their own games.

Hmm... I agree with your point as well but to a certain extent. I too have stopped playing PC games for a while since developers can't seem to provide an interesting storyline with twists and turns that will keep you wanting for more. Nowadays, they are more focused on providing people with amazing video games on gaming consoles, such as the current popular ones: Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii. They develop games exclusive to only those consoles to get more sales as everyone seems to be playing on those consoles. They might also be tired of getting their games pirated by hackers and pirates and being given out on the Internet for practically no cost. Those are some reasons why they don't quite make anymore PC games like they used to before but they do an excellent job at providing realistic and accurate graphics. There might not be an active and addicting storyline present, but the rich gameplay does keep you hooked to the screen and keyboard.

The quality has definitely decreased. Most good PC games now days are crappy console ports that are plagued with issues and don't take full advantage of the fact that it's on a PC and the only visual difference is usually adding a bunch of post effects.
Not to mention DLC in my opinion is ruining all games. Many companies are cutting content that should be there at launch and then later releasing it as DLC to make extra money.
I play relatively few PC games anymore because most games worth buying are usually better on a console. The only ones I really play anymore are usually MMOs or the rare PC only title that's actually good.

Yes , I think it has decreased, cuz 4 years ago , I played pc games, and almost every one of them were interesting to me. But now almost every one of the game doesn't have an interesting story mode, and gameplay

I couldn't agree more. Developpers are so busy creating more and more games, when they could just bring 1 brilliant game instead of 5 trash games. The storylines are not the same, the gameplay is poor and you rather feel playing the same games. The only thing that has improved is the graphics and audio. That is why we get bored so quickly of every game.

Well even if I am not that new to the gaming scene, I am new to the PC gaming scene. And from the looks of it, most games that are coming our are console imports. But there are still some good ones like the Total war series.
But if you consider mmorpg as part of the PC gaming scene, then this is where PC gaming really flourishes.

I think that you are just more used to those old games. I think that maybe your like a old school gamer
and do not really like change. These "new Games" Are not to bad as you describe up there. A game i would use as an example
is StarCraft 2! It has a great story and even after you beat it, you can play on multiplayer, which was basically what the game was made for!1

So your saying, Portal 2, Crysis 2, Black Ops(I think its shitty but the market doesn't), Gears of War 3, and Rift are all games that have run out of imagination and concept? The only correct statement made in this thread is the one about deadlines for games. The ideal development time for a game is approx, 1 year of planning, 2 years of dev, 1 year of beta. 4 year game. Which no one in the market would want to support a game that will take that long, however even that doesn't justify what OP said. Quality of games has approved, graphics wise, physics wise, even community wise. If you're saying there are some games that were made 4 years that you'll never find again that's understandable, ex. Halo 2,3, Call of Duty 4, Gears of War, Dead or Alive 4, Army of Two, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Perfect Dark, etc. However, the concept of quality of games has gone extremely up, so either you have no idea what your talking about, or you just can't switch to new games..

I don't think so. Modern games are getting better IMO. You are correct about focus on graphics so there is no question about that, but a lot of new games actually have good story lines, there are a few with crappy dialogs but overall, compared to games before, It gets better and better.
