some say that the world will end. some says their will be a new era. some says aliens or ufo or extra dimensional beings would make contact with us. do you have any other theories for 2012?? In my opinion the people who say these things are all deluded. There is not a single scientist in the whole world who believes that any of these things are going to happen.

"2012" is a hoax designed to scare children and adults who know nothing about science. There is no science behind it, and no scientists believe in it.

The world has existed for over four billion years. Is it reasonable to expect that it will come to an end next year? And all because of a Mayan calendar? Use some common sense.

The most interesting astronomical events in 2012 will be an annular eclipse of the Sun on 2012 May 20, a total eclipse of the Sun on 2012 Nov 13, and a transit of the planet Venus across the face of the Sun on 2012 Jun 06.

Scientists don't expect anything out of the ordinary to happen in the year 2012, or specifically on the date December 21, except for the solstice, which happens every year.

None of the "predicted" happenings for 2012 hold up under close scrutiny. "Planet X" and "Nibiru" simply don't exist. The Mayan calendar ends a cycle, but there were no predictions of the end of the world. The Sun doesn't line up with the galactic centre; it's 5 degrees off, and happens on December 18 EVERY year. No asteroids or comets are actually predicted to hit Earth.

All of this stuff was put together by crackpots in order to promote their books and TV shows, and shamelessly promoted by the History Channel. Don't take any of it seriously!

The best way is to _inform yourself_ about 2012 by reading factual sites about it, rather than sites that are trying to sell you something.

Sadly , there are some people out there being deluded into thinking that by 2012 the world as we know it will come to an end. There is even a site called Vivos or TerraVivos selling underground bunkers in case of a global disaster for $25,000! Just because the Mayan Calendar ended at 2012, does not mean the world will end by then, there are just no facts backing this claim and the people that do believe in this stuff are basing it on facts that they exaggerate to support their views! Probably 2012 will just be another year, I'm not totally sure about the "aliens" visiting the Earth since we haven't really explored that deep into space to be sure that there are no beings out there smarter than our race. If the world will come to an end by 2012 , it would mostly be because of our actions that slowly condemns this planet to death because of us abusing it :/

I would personally delight in an end to the world.. AS WE KNOW IT. Because, the world, as we know it, is horrible in most respects. Famine, greed, cruelty. I'm hopinh SOMETHING will happen that will unite humanity in a new era of cooperation and respect for one another.

I don't believe it at all. Matthew (or something like that) said that nobody knows the date of the end of the world but only the father, God. How many ends was announced? Like September 6, 1994, January 1, 2000, etc... I hope that no one will kill himself because they think it's real.
