Project Nitrogen (GameOn365's new MMORPG) is now in the beginning phase of development. VIP's will have the opportunity to join in on the second alpha, while the rest of our users will be able to join in the first beta. I've written a brief outline of the project timeline below.

Planning Phase (Pre-Alpha) [Project Lead Access]
  • Funding
  • Staffing
  • Pre-development and software decisions
  • Initial ideas
  • Lore
  • Basic world design layout
  • Player versus player ideas
Planning Phase (Alpha) [Developer Access]
  • Item design
  • Terrain design
  • Game mechanics
  • Character customization
  • Dungeon placement
  • Small town placement
  • Major city placement
Planning Phase (Alpha 2) [VIP / MVP / Staff Access]
  • Game object placement
  • Quest design
  • Non-player character design and placement
  • Loot table
  • 1, 3, and 5 player dungeon design
  • Small town design

Beta [Public Access]

  • 10, and 20 player dungeon design
  • Major city design
Beta 2 [Public Access]
  • Bug fixes
  • Minor design changes
Placement refers to where a city, dungeon, or town will be placed in the game world. Design refers to the creation of a city, dungeon or town. Player versus player zones and ideas will be implemented throughout the entire development process. This timeline is subject to change throughout the development process.

Nice layout!
It's going to take a while though. I hope you have lots of help. ^_^

Yeah, it's definitely a lot of work. Mainly 3D modeling, graphic and interface design, and some python scripting though. I'll probably be posting what spots need filled for the game within the next few days.

Keep us "posted." ^_^
And yeah, it's going to take a lot of hard work. No game is that easily developed, eh?

There's always the 2D engines! We could get a game into alpha tomorrow with one of those!
Of course, I don't think it would look so pretty. And I like a decent bit of pretty.

Regardless, I'll be posting a lot of screenshots throughout development so that everyone can give us some feedback.

From the engine screenie I assume it's going to be a fantasy MMO, I don't know how far you have got, do you have a design document or suchlike? What is the quest system going to be, "Kill <number> <beast>" like WoW or more complex like runescape? Is it going to be sandbox or theme park? Have you got any lore or background for the world?

Right now we're very early on in the planning phase - there are only very basic ideas for the gameplay and no lore yet. At this point, we're planning for the quest system to be more like WoW, but not all of them are as simple as kill this many of that NPC.

I've posted most of the positions that need to be filled at this page.
