Hotel Royale v9 will require a complete recode of all web services to play the game. Most importantly, we will need to create an API for registration and logging in to make it a seamless experience to log in to the hotel with your forum account. We are also focusing on forum integration this time around. All information appearing on the new Hotel Royale CMS will be pulled directly from the forums - announcements, recent posts, competitions, events, the hotel wiki, rare values, and more. We have not yet decided whether the CMS will have the same skin as the forums or a hotel skin.

Major Changes
  • The new version of Hotel Royale will be based out of the forums - you will need to have a forum account before you can register on the hotel. Your forum display name and hotel name will be the same.
  • You will not have to re-enter all of your information to register at Hotel Royale. The only thing you may need to reenter is your password.
  • Forum points can still be exchanged for hotel items and converted to coins.
  • We may automate purchasing hotel items with forum points. (Currently, admins have to manually process all purchases.)
  • Each day, users that have less than 3000 coins will be given 500 more coins. (Amounts subject to change.)
Minor Changes
  • It will no longer be possible to have multiple accounts with the same email address.
  • If your forum account is banned, you will not be able to log in to the hotel account that is associated with it.
  • If your hotel account is banned, you will not be able to create another with the same forum account.
  • Administrators will have to manually process display name change requests from this point on.
We do not have a release date yet. If you'd like to submit any feedback about our plans, or if you've got an idea you think we should include, you can post it at the Hotel Royale Feedback and Suggestions forum.

We'll be removing any inactive staff members within a few days here. As for reviewing new applications, we'll do that shortly after the opening.

There's not much left for us to do at this point. I expect a public beta to be open within the next few days. During the beta, we will be polishing off the Hotel Royale site and making sure everything runs smoothly. I'll go further into detail in a future announcement.

We ran into a few issues where some web browsers were not able to log a user in properly. In light of this, we have decided to continue development to be sure that it works on most browsers before beginning a public beta. We do not have an estimate of how long this will take yet. I'll post another announcement when it is ready.

You're more than welcome to try it out as-is, but you most likely will find the cross-browser compatibility issues less than appealing. Originally, we wanted to have a beta available by the end of the month, and we're ahead of that schedule at this time. I am hopeful to have the beta open by the end of the day tomorrow (Wednesday), but I can make no guarantees, as unexpected problems can always arise.

I go to the hotel --> I enter my fourm info --> it takes me to "uber hotel" --> I sign in there --> it takes me back here...

What do I do?

I'm gonna try it on google chrome and see what happens, if that doesnt work I'll try on firefox, if that doesnt work, i'll try it on safari...

That's exactly what I mean by "as-is". There is no proper way to enter the hotel yet (not yet implemented), and it doesn't actually log you in from the red account sign in page (due to cross-domain posting, which is a security risk), so it just sends you to the old CMS sign in page. However, it did successfully create a hotel account for you.

Update (9:00pm): Just a bit of UI polishing to go and then the revision will be tested (and hopefully work perfectly).

Update (10:55pm): The registration / logon API is completed. We're now working on better integrating the API so that it automatically registers the user on their first visit to the Hotel Royale Portal. We would like to require users to re-authenticate only when they wish to enter the hotel.

There will be no more updates in this topic tonight. We are confident that the beta will be open later tonight or early tomorrow and will post an announcement when it is.
